My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blanche!

Blanche is a wonderful companion, who is full of joy, around 10 years old, and deaf.

She's been spayed, kept up to date on her vaccines, and regularly protected from parasites. To ensure she stays healthy and happy as she ages, Blanche needs an adopter who will provide routine veterinary care and support her with any medical needs that may arise.

She thrives on attention but has a habit of coughing when she's excited. While she's house trained, adjusting to a new routine may take her some time, and she's learning to walk on a leash. Being deaf means Blanche must always be leashed outside unless in a fenced yard, as she can't hear recall commands. She adores wet food but is content with dry kibble.

Blanche would do best as the only dog in a household, or with careful introduction, she might coexist with a low-energy small dog. She's never lived with cats or small children, and due to her deafness, loud noises can startle her.

While it may be possible for Blanche to live with cats, introductions must be gradual and calm. Blanche's adoptive family will need patience and understanding, especially with her reactivity towards other dogs. She would be at best fit as an only dog or in a home willing to keep her completely separated from other dogs her size. She may be able to coexist with a low energy small dog after a very slow gradual integration process, but would shine as an only dog.

Providing her with daily exercise and mental stimulation, like food toys and walks, can help manage any challenging behaviors. Dog parks and public dog-friendly locations aren't recommended due to her reactions to other dogs. Keeping a safe distance from other dogs during walks is crucial for a positive experience. Structured dog training sessions, whether private or in a class setting, can help both Blanche and her adopters understand each other better and strengthen their bond.

With the right support and care, Blanche will make a loving and loyal addition to a patient and dedicated family.

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.

Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.

Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
