Here's another absolutely precious young dog who was literally minutes away from losing her life before she was finally seen by the right people. Brownie must have been someone's baby, and it's hearbreaking to imagine how she ended up as a stray dog in the shelter. She's still a puppy, but she already knows commands like 'come' and 'sit' and is leash- and crate-trained. Open the car door and she'll happily hop right in and take her seat, eager to join in on family outings and adventures. She's friendly with all people and dogs so far, and is playful but also calm and relaxed.
The people who live with her in Houston at the moment work with a LOT of dogs with every kind of background and character, and they instantly recognized Brownie as an exceptionally well-balanced, emotionally healthy young doggy, in spite of whatever challenges she's already overcome in her short life so far. She's ready to go and is SO looking forward to start living her best life with a loving family!
brownie is available (and eager!) to be fostered or adopted anywhere in the continental US, Ontario or the Maritimes. You can find an application for either on our website, lastminutedogrescue.com, or our Facebook page.

Submit Application
People can submit an adoption application
Interview
First we do reference checks, THEN we do a full 1 to 1.5 hr interview with the applicant
Home Check
Home checks used to be done in person but lately we do a zoom walk through of the home, checking especially the backyard and crate set up
Meet the Pet
If the dog is here in Canada they can do a meet and greet to finalize that they are in fact who they say they are and a good match
Approve Application
we would send an email approving the adopter (or declining if they aren't approved)
Sign Adoption Contract
We would send the adoption contract which they would fill out and send back.
Pay Fee
They would transfer the adoption fee to cover transport costs and vetting of the dog. Then they would come pick up the dog from the foster.
