My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Bayou arrived at the Animal Rescue Network in mid-January 2024, along with his brother Balou. The little ones were very shy, so it was necessary to socialize them. After about 14 days, they started exploring the whole house without hiding. When he doesn't know you, Bayou is shy and won't initiate contact. He's a very gentle cat. He now likes to be petted very much! Bayou does, however, love to play. He loves running up and down the apartment corridor.  He loves to play with plastic spirals, with his brother and with the resident cat. He is fascinated by water, so he'll need a water fountain. He's also very greedy. He loves cat treats like Creamy. Treats have helped his foster family socialize him. Like most cats, Bayou doesn't like to be held. You have to let him come to you. He likes to nap lying next to us in bed or on the sofa in the living room, especially if his brother is there too. Of course, there's still some work to do, but he's already much more at ease than when he first arrived. A calm but present family would be ideal for him. Another cat would also be a very good option for him to fully blossom. Bayou is kitten so the adoption fees for him are $340. He is sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped. He is not tested for the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) or for the feline leucose virus (FeLV) but his brother Balou is negative for both viruses. Health insurances are offered for the first 6 weeks following adoption. You will also have access to the help of the adoption team as long as you need it. You will also have access to a free phone consultation during the first month following adoption with our cat behaviour consultant FelineGood ( https://www.felinegood.ca ). In order to get a chance to adopt him, please fill out our adoption directly on our website: https://www.reseausecoursanimal.org/contacts/adoption-form/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All new adoption homes are carefully screened to determine if they are suitable. There is an adoption fee that includes the sterilization, initial vaccination of every animal, testing for FIV and FeLV of all cats at the shelter, and a 21 days trial period. A contract is always signed between the ARN and the adopter for their protection. A follow-up by an ARN adoption coordinator is often done either by telephone or by visit, and we also offer help/cousel for the life of the cat.
