My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nasa's story is one of resilience and hope. Rescued from a high-kill shelter in Georgia, this 4-5 year old bundle of energy has been given a second chance at life and is now safely in boarding / training in Naperville, Illinois.

Despite the challenging start he faced, Nasa has an endless supply of love to give. His tail happily thumps away whenever he's around his human friends, and he absolutely lives for car rides and tasty treats. Nasa may be a bit rough around the edges at the moment, but that's all about to change.

Nasa is receiving professional training to polish up his manners and social skills. With patience and positive reinforcement, he's learning the best manners to walk nicely on a leash, come when called and to be a good family pet. Nasa is discovering that good behavior opens up a whole world of fun activities and adventures. Nasa needs plenty of play and walks.

Though Nasa definitely prefers keeping felines at a distance, he's working hard on learning to get along with other dogs too. We have complete faith that with the right guidance, this ball of canine energy will become a more balanced, confident pup. We also recommend that he is in a home without small children.

Nasa's journey hasn't been an easy one, but his future is looking bright. Thanks to the loving humans dedicated to giving him a life worth living, this pup's tale will have a happily-ever-after ending. With time, training, and plenty of belly rubs, Nasa's true colors will shine!

He was crated a lot in the past 11 months, and didn't have much freedom or play. That's all changed now! Given that he lived such a confined life, we have boarded Nasa with a great trainer who is helping him learn to enjoy life again. Nasa is enjoying plennty of sunshine, playing and running around in the great outdoors, andn just learning to enjoy his life again. We'd like to keep him in this great environment for at least 1 month. He soon will be available for adoption once he descompresses and realizes that he is safe. An ideal home for Nasa is with an adult who has experience with strong breeds, and to continue his training. Would like owner with fenced in back yard to throw ball. Nasa needs to be an only dog in the home, even though he gets along with other dogs.

Nasa will have gone through a basic training program prior to adoption! In this program he will have learned proper heeling on a leash, basic obedience, place command, off leash recall, no bolting out of doors, people and dog socialization, kennel/potty training and more! After adoption process is finalized, the new owners will work with the trainer 1 on 1 to learn what Nasa has learned in the program and how to keep up with training after going home. This will all be included in your adoption fee!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to save the lives of dogs facing euthanasia in high-kill shelters nationwide by pledging funds that enable rescues to take in, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. On occasion, if we do not have a local rescue in place in the city the dogs are in, we bring them to Illinois to avoid their euthanasia. They are placed in boarding for vetting, once done, they are promoted for fostering or adoption.
