My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peanut Buster!

The delightful 10-year-old Pitbull weighing 77 lbs, with a heart as warm as his gentle demeanor!
Peanut Buster may be a bit sensitive, but his affectionate nature shines through as he eagerly greets everyone with a wagging tail and a friendly smile. Despite his age, this charming gentleman is always ready to make new friends and share his love with those around him.
As an older dog, Peanut Buster would thrive in a laidback home environment where he can enjoy leisurely strolls, cozy naps, and plenty of love and attention. With his calm and easygoing demeanor, he's the perfect companion for quiet evenings spent relaxing at home.

If there are children in his forever home, Peanut Buster would do best with older kids aged 10 to 13 years old. His gentle and patient nature makes him a wonderful companion for children who can appreciate his calm and affectionate presence.
Peanut Buster gets along well with most dogs and shows great potential to live with a canine companion in his forever home. With a proper introduction and a compatible furry friend, he'll enjoy the company and companionship of a four-legged buddy.

Peanut Buster is ready to find his perfect match and settle into a loving forever home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by warmth and affection. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion to brighten your days, Peanut Buster is the one for you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
