My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who is looking for a good first dog? Maybe even first bully breed? Derby (formerly known as Brown Sugar) is about a year old and very much still a puppy! He is young, energetic, and craves companionship. Derby is dog-friendly and cat-tested well at the vet clinic where he was neutered (couldnt care less about the cat). Much like any young dog who ends up spending a couple months in a shelter, he could use some work on his manners, but fortunately, we have affordable resources for that! We could see him being a good jogging buddy. Also, he rides in the car quietly and doesn't get carsick, in our experience. Derby won't fight you on going in his crate and dozes peacefully. We've actually never heard him bark! Derby has completed his vet care and is good to go! His adoption fee is $250 Please visit our website savedbyfate.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Additional adoption info

SBF adoptions start off with a 2-week trial period to ensure that the SBF dog is a good fit for your family and current pets. The adoption fee is due the day an adopter starts the 2-week trial period. If the adoption does not work out within those two weeks, the adopter will be refunded all but a $50 donation, or they can put the fee towards another adoptable dog.

More about this rescue

Saved by Fate is a dog rescue organization in Central Kentucky that specializes in pulling dogs at high risk of euthanasia from Kentucky shelters. SBF was founded by Mara DeLaus and Ciara Hagedorn in 2022. After years of volunteering for a fellow organization, they saw a significant need for additional rescue resources in their area. SBF is an entirely foster and volunteer based organization that does not have a physical location or kennel at this time.
