My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Karma, the gentle soul with a heart of gold!

This timid beauty found herself in a shelter, but her spirit shines brightly, waiting for the perfect family to give her the love she deserves. Karma may be shy at first, but once you earn her trust, you'll discover a loyal companion who will fill your days with warmth and affection.

Karma has a taste for the finer things in life, particularly liver pate and hot dogs, which always bring a wag to her tail and a sparkle to her eyes. Despite her initial reservations, Karma is a friend to all, including our feline friends. She's a peaceful presence, happy to coexist with cats and other dogs alike. Her gentle nature makes her an ideal addition to any loving home.

With patience, kindness, and a lot of love, Karma is ready to embark on a new chapter of her life, bringing joy and companionship wherever she goes. Will you be the one to give Karma the forever home she so richly deserves?

Stop in and meet her cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email bloomingdale@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 90, and the staff will be happy to help you.

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

More about this shelter

A one-of-a-kind animal welfare organization, Anderson Humane focuses on creating and supporting mutually beneficial relationships between people and animals. Current programming such as our Adoption Program, Military Veterans’ Program, and Healing Paws Pet Therapy Program create positive, impactful connections between people and animals, improving the lives of both. Future programs will be offered in partnership with human-service organizations throughout our community, maximizing impact and changing lives for the better.

Anderson Humane is a resource for pet owners, providing information and services to provide better care for their pets. Services such as our Low-Cost Vaccination, Dental, and Spay/Neuter Clinics offer affordable veterinary care options, preventing owners from having to give up their pets simply because they can’t afford care. On the horizon are additional programs to keep pets in homes, such as a pet food pantry, affordable pet training options, and temporary housing for pets when families are in crisis.
