My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Richard is a handsome and charming 7-year-old large Siberian cross cat. His loving family were forced to surrender him due to a family member developing severe allergies.

After taking a couple of days to settle in, Richard’s sweet nature became apparent. He is a total cuddlebug and jumps on the couch or bed for cuddles and belly rubs as often as he can.

Richard likes to stay close to his humans and will even follow them from room to room. His foster home contains a 7-year-old child, and Richard is very gentle with her.

Richard is an excellent jumper and enjoys perching up high. He is more of a couch potato than a high energy cat but Richard does enjoy playtime, especially with teaser toys and toys containing catnip. I have never seen a cat enjoy catnip as much as Richard.

Richard is a calm and easygoing cat but gets a little afraid when people come in or out of the house and sometimes startles at loud noises. This will likely abate with time when he gets more comfortable in a new space as he seemed pretty comfortable with the vacuum (a sound he seems used to).

Richard's easygoing nature and gentle demeanour would make him a wonderful companion for individuals or families.

His loving previous owners wanted to make sure he goes to his new home with the basic supplies. They have provided a litter box, nail clippers, brush, a few months supply of high quality cat food, toys, and his favourite blanket.

Richard would do well in most homes. He would be happiest in a home where he has a cat tree to perch on and lots of affection. He would do well with respectful children. Based on his demeanor, we don't believe he needs to be with another cat.
