Looking for a dog that'll light up your life? Elfie is your girl!

This sweet little miss is a bundle of joy, super smart and loves to learn. At the end of the day, she wouldn't mind curling up with you while you catch up on all your favorite TV shows. Very friendly, Elfie would love to be the solo 4 legged favorite doggo in the home so no other dogs and no feline variety - there's too much fun to be had chasing them!

She knows sit, walks well on a leash, loves to play catch, fetch and takes treats like the lovely gentle lady she is. She will play bow when engaging in play and will put her head in your lap and look at you with big sad eyes to be fed more treats. Add in a few long belly rubs and she's your friend for life.

Elfie is not in the main public section of the shelter, so be sure to ask for her by name if you come to visit her!

All adoptions must be done in person. Prospective adopters must meet the pet and complete the adoption application and questionnaire during the initial visit to our shelter at 2802 W Central Park Ave, Davenport, IA.

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
