My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** If you are interested in adopting Benji, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **

Benji is a social & happy little guy. He was found as a stray in New Mexico and brought into a shelter that was so overcrowded that they are euthanizing dogs every day. We were reached out to by the rescue director because Benji was her favorite dog and just needed to get out of there. Of course we were happy to help!

Benji is believed to be a Heeler / Chihuahua mix. He is 1 year old, and full grown at only 24 lbs!

From Benji's foster:
"Benji is a sweet and easy going boy that is great with other dogs. He sits beautifully for treats, walks well on a leash, and he has basic obedience skills."

Since Benji is still a young guy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way.
Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training. (Especially puppies!!)
We therefore aren't willing to adopt out to a home that doesn't choose to offer this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area.

Benji is up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He is not yet neutered, but Farfel's Rescue covers the full cost of his neuter if one of our vets is used. Since he is not neutered, he will go into a foster to adopt and his neuter must be done within one month in order to finalize his adoption.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
