My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Scout is the pup you want to have around! Scout at approximately 10 months old and 44 lbs is just naturally a lover. When he looks at you with those gorgeous blue and brown eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt.

Scout is a beautiful and sweet as can be Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog mix with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular and beloved breed mixes.

Farfel's received a plea from Rescued Pets Movement in Houston to save Scout's life. He was scheduled for immediate euthanasia due to a lack of space. They described this gorgeous herding dog as wonderful, sweet and just about perfect in his temperament and general demeanor once he's comfortable in his environment.

Scout is a cuddler and snuggler all the way! He loves to to cuddle close on the couch for TV watching, or just hanging out with his favorite people is just about perfect for this loyal best friend. An occasional kiss from Scout, once comfortable in his new home, is inevitable. He's a sensitive and very kind dog who derives so much joy from his time spent with his favorite people and doggy friends.

Scout is a young, playful and silly pup who will love his family with all his heart. He also enjoys other gentle dogs to play with... and then lying together in the sunshine enjoying a beautiful day is perfect.

Scout will have so much fun exploring, and taking long walks and hikes along Colorado's gorgeous paths and trails. Hiking and socializing with other hikers is right down this friendly and active guy's alley. He is always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude...just say the word and up Scout jumps for a car ride, a fun backyard game or just a sociable walk around the neighborhood.

Scout's rescuer had the following to brag about this sweet guy:

Scout is a very gentle and sweet pup! He's great with all dogs and humans, loves to play, is well mannered and very obedient! Scout is also great on a leash, loves other dogs, and he encourages others to play with him in a very positive way. Overall, A+ dog! 10/10 would recommend!

Scout's foster bragged the following about Scout: This gorgeous and sweet as can be Border Collie is an extremely affectionate and loving dog once he becomes comfortable in his environment. We would love to see him in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet pup. We'd hate to see Scout left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. He seems too sensitive for that type of arrangement. Scout will thrive on spending time near his people getting loved up periodically throughout the day.

Farfel's Rescue would like to see Scout in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important to the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Scout out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.

Scout will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care and general health) to keep his coat cottony-soft, super-healthy and matte-free.

Scout has been fully vetted, vaccinated and neutered to fulfill Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation crisis in the canine population.

Scout will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 5/1//2024. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Scout please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
