My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CAPE MAY, NJ: Light-hearted and lovely Leo has a smile that lights up a room, but this handsome fellow shines the brightest outdoors on an adventure with you!

Leo is a 2 year old collie mix and weighs 50 lbs. Poor handsome Leo found himself abandoned at an overcrowded city shelter and he was truly terrified. He was rescued from euthanasia in December 2023 and has since resided in a loving foster home, where he has made such wonderful progress. With his fosters, he is loving, intelligent, and playful. Once he knows you, Leo is extremely affectionate and obedient. Everything makes him happy but he likes playing with chews, toys, and tugs the best. Just as any young active breed would be, Leo is exuberant, sometimes even excitable, so he will need an outlet for his energy. Leo would make a great outdoor buddy for someone who is active and/or has a large, fenced in yard. And he absolutely LOVES water! If it’s big enough to jump in, Leo surely will! This fun-loving guy loves being outdoors, bursting with happiness and light-heartedly prancing around.

Because of his ruff start in life, Leonardo should really go to a home that has experience with his breed. Leo previously lived with 5 adults and 2 teenagers so he is not opposed to a lively house. Leo bonded very deeply to the children, as collie mixes are known to do. Leo is dog friendly and has been non-reactive to cats. He is neutered, house-trained, up to date on vaccines, micro chipped and ready for his forever home!

If you can open your heart and home to the amazing Leo, please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 or by e-mail at info@amsterdog.org. Please fill out an application to adopt Leo at AmsterDog.org.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

AmsterDog Rescue does not have its own facility. Instead, we rely on fosters to care for our beloved animals. Our available animals may change depending on your location and we do transport animals for adoptions within a reasonable distance. Since you will possibly be speaking with and meeting a foster directly, an application must be filled out prior to meet and greets.

For adoption inquiries, please contact AmsterDog Rescue at 917-689-8414 or info@amsterdog.org. To get the process started, please fill out our online application at www.amsterdog.org/application.
