My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello friends! My name is Rhubarb, more affectionately known as Rhubs and less affectionately known as Rhubarbara when I'm being a little naughty. You can call me whatever you want, but don't call me late for dinner, amirite?

I'm a spry, seven year old gal looking to put down some roots with a new family. My most favorite thing in the world is belly rubs -- anytime, anywhere, this belly is open for business. My second favorite thing is sunbathing. If I had my druthers, I'd sit outside all day soaking up that sweet vitamin D. On my best days, foster mom comes outside and rubs my belly while I'm sunbathing...heaven on earth.

As a more mature woman, I'm fully house-trained. Accidents? Not on my watch! And I'm also crate-trained. Sometimes I run right into my crate when it's bedtime, and sometimes I try to sweet talk my way into spending the night on the couch. But once I'm in my crate, I sleep through the night. And I don't mind hanging out in there throughout the day. I'm very polite to the other dog in my foster home and would be fine sharing my new space with another friend.

I enjoy going on daily walks, and my stamina is quite impressive for a little dog! So if you're looking for a smaller companion to hit the trails or the neighborhood streets, I'm in! Here's the thing: as much as I enjoy getting my steps in, it's a jungle out there. The smells, the cars, the squirrels, the other dogs, the strange humans -- it can sometimes be a lot for me to take in. I'm learning to keep my focus on my human and perfecting my leash skills. So yes, I may be a work in progress, but really aren't we all? Let's grow and learn together, and let's eat some treats while we do it! But first, belly rubs!

Additional adoption info

Please visit www.hopeanimals.org/adopt to learn more about our adoption process and to complete an adoption application.

Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter*, microchipping, up-to-date vaccinations, and current heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.

*If pet is not old enough to be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, a $50.00 credit will be paid to your vet at the time of surgery.

We require a veterinary reference for current pet owners, and pets must be up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative. We meet potential adopters in their homes and introduce the pets to the family's current pets to see if it is a good match. A copy of our adoption contract can be requested via email.
