My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks

NOT IN VP

Date into Rescue: 3/18/2024
Reason for being in rescue: stray
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Louis Robert Wilson is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.
Weight: 31 lbs
Height: 22 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $599

Fence needed? Yes, Louis requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller

What kind of home would be best for me?  Remember he is a baby, and his adopter needs to provide play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in his potty training. Louis will do fine if you give him a consistent routine. Louis needs an experienced adopter that is home more than they are away and can take the time to train him. His adopter will need to be patient yet firm because his attention span right now isn't sharp. Playing is constantly on his mind. Louis will need to learn to walk on a leash and be taught basic commands such as sit, stay, come, down, etc. This guy is so active that his forever home would be best with an active family with kids he could play with. An active single owner would work well too. His adopter should be ready to take Louis on frequent walks or family outings and provide him with toys to play with.

Puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Puppies are generally very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can!

What is my personality like? Louis was found as a stray with his sister Sunny. Louis is an extremely high energy pup who seems to have his motor struck in supersonic mode. This boy is constantly on the go. He will run and play and then run and play some more. In between he will chew and go potty whenever the mood arises. And be prepared, Louis likes to bark.

Louis' throttle runs wide open. Playing and being loved on are the focus in his young life. It doesn't matter if you are young or old, male or female, short or tall, Louis loves them all. This is true no matter if its people, cats, or dogs. Louis views every living being as a playmate. When it comes to food Louis devours his meals so a slow feeder might be needed in your home. What matters most to Louis is that his adopter is happy, excited, and ready to take on loving and patiently training him as he develops into a good boy and an indispensable part of your family. Louis would love if his new forever family already had an older dog for him to play with, take his cues from, and learn from. But, mostly to play with.

PUPPY POLICY:

Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog.
Our ideal puppy adopters are:
-experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets
-scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home
-stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc)

How do I act when I first meet new people? Louis LOVES people. The word stranger does not register with him. He thinks every person is a playmate and can't understand if they don't play with him.

Other tips and tidbits: Louis was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Our vet estimated his birthday on or about 7/18/2023.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.

Our efforts are funded solely through adoption fees and donations.

Our Mission

To rescue, rehabilitate, offer permanent sanctuary and, when appropriate, rehome needy poodles and small dogs.

To encourage the human-animal bond by promoting activities that serve to bring animals and their people closer together

To support the efforts of those in the animal rescue community seeking to end euthanasia as a means of population control.
