Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you looking for a spunky boy to add to your family? Well look no further as Nelson is here. This handsome boy love to bring a smile to the faces of those around him with his silly personality. This boy needs to work on his big boy manners and will need someone that is able to spend time with him teaching him right from wrong. Nelson would also make the perfect hiking or adventure buddy as he is always ready to explore the world around him.
~ Nelson is looking for an active home that will be able to take him on lots of adventures ~ Nelson is looking for an adult only home as he needs lots of work on his manners, and does not know his size ~ While in our care we have noticed that Nelson has shown some barrier reactivity ~ Since this handsome boy does love to sing and shout we are looking to find him a house type home rather than an apartment ~ Nelson will need to be signed up for training prior to going into his fur-ever home to ensure he can work on his big boy manners
Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed: - Vocal - High Energy - Reactivity - Mouthy - Jumpy - Under-Socialized
Explanation of Behaviours: - Nelson is a young dog who is high energy and will need a lot of time, attention, training, enrichment, and exercise daily to do well. - He will need to socialized a lot in a safe and positive way to help set him up for success in the future. - He will need his adopters to work with him on his manners and self control including behaviours like jumping up, mouthing, and being pushy with interactions. - He has shown reactivity while in our care (specifically noted while he is behind a barrier). As a result, he can be vocal at times.
This dog would benefit from: · An active home · An adult only home · No apartments · Lots of training and socialization · Lots of time and attention
Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked on: · Basic obedience · Basic manners: including difficult behaviours such as jumping, mouthing, reactivity, and being pushy interactions · Socialization
NOTE: **For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions
**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
