My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This lovely 10 month old kitten is Millie. She is mostly black with a white spot on her chest, a very quiet kitty. Her foster says, "She doesn’t seem to know what to do with herself. She wants to be up on my cupboard away from everything. She is sweet and cuddly but just different. She is afraid of my bigger dogs. Millie is pretty thin and only wants people food. I feed her boiled chicken and she will eat a bit of dry food." She would probably be more comfortable in a home without dogs, especially big ones.

All of our dogs, cats, rabbits & ferrets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Small animals are usually not altered. We have adoption applications, a short interview process, and an adoption fee for each animal. All animals (except rabbits & small animals) are up to date on all shots.

We hold adoption events on Saturdays at Petsmart in Mishawaka from 11-3. We also hold other events throughout the year. You can also contact us directly regarding a pet seen here and we will set up a time for you to meet them in person. Heartland Small Animal Rescue Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving South Bend, IN and surrounding towns by taking in homeless pets and adopting them out into loving homes. We also work closely with local shelters to reduce euthanasia rates by pulling animals and putting them in our program.
