My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

eet Zell! Found as a stray at just 5 months old, humans have certainly failed this sweet girl in the past. We’re working hard to change her life for the better - could you be Zell’s happily ever after? Zell is currently 6 months old and approximately 35 lbs. She is a good old fashioned mutt with Labrador, Rottweiler, Shepherd, and Boxer breeds all being a possibility in her DNA. We estimate (but can’t guarantee) she’ll be a medium sized dog, likely in the range of 55-65lbs. She’s up to date on her vaccinations as well as on preventatives, and will be spayed prior to adoption. Being a stray and having to fend for herself as a young pup for who knows how long, Zell is learning to trust humans and fellow dogs alike. She would do okay with a dog who is savvy enough to let her when they’ve had enough playing/chasing. Being a playful puppy still learning the rules (no jumping, nipping, etc.) we think she’d do best in a home with kids 10 and older.

Zell is crate trained and making big steps in being fully house broken as well as walking on a leash. She enjoys a car rides and will sit so nicely, but like many puppies occasionally gets carsick. Most dogs will grow out of that! On a scale of 1-10, her energy level is about an 8 and for that reason she needs to have a fenced yard to do zoomies in or a very active owner who will take her for lots of walks/adventures! Zell loves to play fetch, chew a bone or squeaky toy and chase sticks. One of her favorite activities is sunning herself in a patch of soft grass - she truly loves to be outdoors! Once she’s had a sufficient amount of exercise, she’s happy as a clam cuddling on the couch for an afternoon. Zell is a very smart, trainable pup who will work hard for some treats and praise. If you think Zell would be a good fit for your family and would like to meet her, please fill out an application!

More about this rescue

Renee's Rescues is an all-volunteer rescue organization based in Delaware. Our focus is to rescue misplaced, abandoned, mistreated, abused and/or ill canines and place them into loving homes.

We do a significant amount of rescue work with dogs acquired from large-scale breeding operations. Most, if not all, spent life in cages or outdoor hutches prior to rescue. Our dedicated foster families assist with house-training and crate-training before they are adopted. Additionally, our fosters provide extra TLC and socialization. This enables them to flourish as they start their new chapter of life.

On the fence about adopting? That's okay! We are always looking for new foster families. We provide all veterinary care and supplies. You provide the love. To learn more, please visit www.reneesrescues.org, and fill out a foster application under the Forms tab. You can email your application to applications@reneesrescues.org.
