My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon!
At five months old, she’s all puppy and is a bit klutzy as she’s still growing. Once she gets her sea legs, though, she’d make a great companion for an avid walker or runner. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea.
Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones.
Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. She does well in a crate at night and is mostly housetrained with a doggy door, although she still has the occasional accident.
If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for!
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you
submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must
have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare
arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet, and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

More about this rescue

Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare, Inc is a 501(c)3 non profit, all-volunteer organization located in the Midwest, funded by donations and dedicated to rescuing beagles from high-kill shelters. Our foster homes provide loving temporary care until we are able to find them well matched, carefully screened forever homes. By working with local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities we are able to give proper medical care to the beagles in our program. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. We adopt beagles to families within Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and have also placed beagles into loving homes in Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri.
