My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PAPRIKA - DOB 2/18/24
This is Paprika, a unique and wonderful Beagle mix.  Paprika was born in foster care, so we have the complete scoop on him. DNA revealed 52% Beagle, 30% Shiba Inu, and 16% Australian Cattle Dog with a smidgen of Border Collie and German Shepherd.  What does all that add up to?  Medium-sized (some people think Shibas, Cattle Dogs, and Borders are large, but they are not) floppy-eared, curly-tailed, spunky, smart puppies. Paprika IS 90% housetrained with a doggy door and sleeps through the night. He loves the outdoors and is a very gentle boy unless he is at play with his litter or other dogs. Then he's tough, oh, okay he THINKS he's tough, and quite the barker, that beagle DNA comes WAY out in his howl.
Although Paprika seems mild-mannered, he has been first with everything. First to be born, first to open eyes, to walk, first to and first to nudge his way through the garden fencing.  He doesn't brag about it but he is quietly ahead of the pack. Unique is the best word for him...fill out an application and find out if this "best boy" is for you!
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

More about this rescue

Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare, Inc is a 501(c)3 non profit, all-volunteer organization located in the Midwest, funded by donations and dedicated to rescuing beagles from high-kill shelters. Our foster homes provide loving temporary care until we are able to find them well matched, carefully screened forever homes. By working with local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities we are able to give proper medical care to the beagles in our program. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. We adopt beagles to families within Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and have also placed beagles into loving homes in Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri.
