My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Retha
I transferred from a crowded shelter to the HSHC at the end of April. Then, I was chosen to move to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe! Yipee! Here's the thing. I have always been a child of nature, loving my ability to climb to the tallest spot, jumping from place to place, and taking in all the activity around me. I am only 3-years-old and have lots of things I am curious about. Once I moved to the SKCC and saw their enormous tree in the middle of the room, I knew I was in heaven! I have parked myself on one of the branches every day. I don't come down until I really have to for food or the litterbox. When the interviewer lady (IL) asked to speak with me, I opened my eyes, stretched, gave her a little grin, and closed my eyes. It's perfect up there. I can see everything and everyone. I don't have to interact with anyone unless I want to. I think in a previous life, I must have been a squirrel or a sloth or a bird or a lumberjack. This tree is the cat's pajamas! I am actually a charming girl and would love to go home with you. But do YOU have a big tree in your house? If not, could you think about it? 5-7-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
