My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Balto is ready to meet his crazy, affectionate dog mom or dad. He wants someone that will be as obsessed with him as he is with them. He wants to be the big spoon and cuddle. But if you need to go to work and leave him alone, he'll allow it and won't scream while you're gone. But he'll be eager for your return. If you don't want to leave him, no problem...he loves jumping in a going for a car ride.

Balto just wants to be with his person. He's a happy, easy boy and just absolutely loves his people. He is eager to please, definitely more on the submissive side. Balto is a velcro dog and will go where you go! He's a happy, giddy boy and is such a lover and a hugger! He just wants to be on you and wants to get your affection as much as possible. If you need "your personal space", Balto is not the pup for you. :)

He tends to be on the shier side around new people and thing, so he'd like someone that will let him ease into things for a couple days until he's comfortable. But that won't take long!

Balto would make a good apartment pup. He would just need to be guaranteed several walks and time outside for potty breaks each day. He is already crate trained and is a sweet boy. He is good with kids and other dogs. He will play with toys but is happier just being with his people.

At the end of the day, Balto will make you smile! He has a huge, happy grin that is contagious.

As part of Balto’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Balto, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home. http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/apply-for-adoption/

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. An adoption fee of $275 for dogs under 6 months $250 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
