My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dragon is a big tripod with a big amount of love to give. He is insanely friendly and can’t get enough pets, hugs, kisses, and immediately drops and rolls from side to side on his back when he sees a human friend. He would do well in a home in which he gets the attention he craves and owner enjoys a very affectionate cat. He often coos affectionately when a cat is sitting next to him, but humans are of course his preference because they give the best scritches. He is not super playful, but certainly gets occasional bursts of energy.

This cat can be adopted as a single cat or with a calm companion.

Dragon was rescued with dental issues and is in need of surgery. In lieu of an adoption fee, we would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.

This cat is FIV+ and will live a normal healthy and long life when provided with quality care such as a balanced diet and yearly wellness exams (like any cat). As FIV+ is not transmittable between neutered/spayed cats under normal circumstances, we are happy for FIV+ cats to mingle with FIV- cats in their adoptive homes.

By appointment only. We offer to drive prospective adoptive prospects to the foster home. We also deliver pets to their new homes.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
