Introducing Max!!

Max, the heart-stealing Beagle Coonhound mix who's all about spreading love and wagging tails wherever he goes! At 1 year and 9 months old, Max is a bundle of joy on a mission to find his forever family.

With his charming personality and affectionate nature, Max is a true love-bug who adores everyone he meets, including cats and dogs! That's right, this social butterfly is the perfect companion for furry friends of all shapes and sizes, making him the ultimate addition to any pet-loving household.

Max's ideal home is one filled with endless cuddles, playtime galore, and a cozy spot on the couch where he can snuggle up with his favorite humans and furry pals alike. Whether he's chasing after toys in the backyard or curling up for a nap with his feline friend, Max is always happiest when he's surrounded by those he loves.

If you're searching for a one-of-a-kind canine companion who's guaranteed to steal your heart, look no further than Max! Come meet this lovable pup and discover the joy of unconditional love with your new best friend.

Max has been neutered and microchipped. He is up to date on all core vaccinations and monthly preventatives. If you're interested in adopting Max, feel free to stop by the shelter or give us a call at 740-314-5583.

More about this shelter

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
