My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trixi was rescued from BARC in Houston on April 13, 2024, for an adopter who blew her off before they even met. Trixi loves toys, other dogs and all people. Trixie is a fun, confident girl who is perfect for any adventure. Shes happy to jump up on the car and head out. Smart and treat motivated, she is a breeze to train. Crate and leash trained she is doesnt display any anxiety or destructiveness. Shes easily handled and grooming is no problem. Trixie is never without a smile on her pretty face.

Being kenneled in Houston, Trixi is available for adoption pretty much all over the US and Canada. Alberta is a challenge but there is transport available to the east coast or the Pacific Northwest or almost any spot in between! Please go to our Facebook page or our website (lastminutedogrescue.com) to fill out an application.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

People can submit an adoption application

2.

Interview

First we do reference checks, THEN we do a full 1 to 1.5 hr interview with the applicant

3.

Home Check

Home checks used to be done in person but lately we do a zoom walk through of the home, checking especially the backyard and crate set up

4.

Meet the Pet

If the dog is here in Canada they can do a meet and greet to finalize that they are in fact who they say they are and a good match

5.

Approve Application

we would send an email approving the adopter (or declining if they aren't approved)

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

We would send the adoption contract which they would fill out and send back.

7.

Pay Fee

They would transfer the adoption fee to cover transport costs and vetting of the dog. Then they would come pick up the dog from the foster.

Additional adoption info

No other additional information. Some of our dogs are adopted as soon as they come up on a "foster-to-adopt" trial period to ensure the perfect match.

More about this rescue

We rescue dogs off of death row from the Texas kill shelters and help rehome stray dogs from dumping grounds that have clearly been neglected or abused.
