My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Penny is a cute 5-year old female Pug/Chihuahua mix who was surrendered by her family on February 16, 2024 along with her five 3-week old puppies (Amy, Bernee, Howard, Leonard, and Mary) and three adult male Pug/Chihuahuas (Buster, Dean, and Loki).

Penny has a brown-and-tan short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with big brown eyes, black shading on her short muzzle, a dusting of white on her chin, and short floppy ears. Penny seems to have inherited her facial features from the Pug side of her family.

Penny was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on February 27, 2024. She weighed 17 lbs that day. Penny was given booster vaccines on March 25, 2024.

This little momma was very protective of her babies and raised five beautiful puppies in our shelter. Penny was separated from her puppies in late March 2024 after they were fully weaned.

These photos of Penny were taken the day she was surrendered to our shelter on February 16, 2024. She was very nervous that day being in an unfamiliar place with her tiny puppies and was quite vocal while expressing her opinion (and fear) when anyone approached her little family. Penny is still capable of exhibiting an 'attitude' (perhaps she inherited that from the Chihuahua side of her family (smile). We look forward to taking more flattering outdoor photos of Penny when the opportunity presents itself.

All five of Penny's puppies have recently left our shelter with foster families who plan to adopt them after they are spayed/neutered.

Penny is ready to find another loving home where she will be pampered and spoiled to her heart's content. Penny will be spayed before being officially adopted. She could be fostered or fostered-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

UPDATE: Penny went home with a foster family on May 1, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.

Penny was spayed on May 7, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. She was adopted by her foster family later that day.
