My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Izzy, a delightful and affectionate canine companion, embodies the epitome of sweetness and charm. Known for her endearing nature, she seamlessly integrates into family life with her gentle disposition and remarkable patience, particularly adored by children. With a previous history of residing harmoniously with a three-year-old and a six-year-old, Izzy effortlessly engages in playful activities, relishing moments of joyous romps and toy-filled adventures. Her innate understanding and tolerance make her a beloved playmate, as she joyfully partakes in spirited games and leisurely strolls, her loyal presence a source of comfort and companionship.

Highly regarded for her impeccable manners and obedience, Izzy showcases a repertoire of well-honed skills, from her exemplary house training to her proficient command of commands like sit, stay, and down. Ever the courteous canine, she greets all she encounters with a warm and welcoming demeanor, her friendly disposition endearing her to both familiar faces and strangers alike. While Izzy's penchant for plush toys brings moments of playful mischief, her conscientious nature shines through in her adaptability and willingness to learn, as she diligently works on overcoming challenges such as leash reactivity. With a heart brimming with love and a spirit as resilient as it is kind, Izzy eagerly awaits a forever home where she can continue to share her boundless affection and unwavering loyalty.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
