My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Get ready to greet Rafiki, the gentle giant with a heart as immense as his stature. Known affectionately as Uncle Rafiki, this big black cat's calm and loving demeanor earned him the honorary "Uncle" title as he adores all the kittens and serves as their gentle guide. A survivor of FIP, Rafiki's spirit is unbroken, and his playful nature is matched only by his profound sweetness. Rafiki's large, soulful yellow eyes reflect the depth of his gentle nature, inviting you to share in the joy of his company.

This black mini panther has a striking presence, with long arms that he often stretches out like a Sphinx, showcasing his majestic stature. (Check out Instagram to see Rafiki's regal pose.) Rafiki's intelligence and affectionate nature make him the ideal companion, yet as an adult black cat, he has been patiently waiting for his forever home, his extraordinary qualities often overlooked. Don't miss the chance to welcome this extraordinary cat into your life and witness the magic of Rafiki's loving and playful spirit

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
