My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a little bean that you can share your life with? Do you love to be active and also snuggle? Well look no further, Francine is looking for her furrever person or family that will shower her with all the love and delicious treats she wants and will help her to see that the world isn't so scary after all!

~ Francine is a sweet girl that loves to be loved.
~ While this girl loves affection she can be a little nervous at first and lacks most of her basic manners and training. She will need to be set up for at least 3 in-person training prior to going to her new home to work on these behaviours and her basic training.
~ She can be somewhat touch sensitive, especially in new environments and with new people. Her new family will need to help slowly socialize her with these things to set her up for success.
~ She is looking for an adult only home that can help her calmly and safely come out of her shell and that can work with her resource guarding

Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed:
- Nervous/shy
- Touch Sensitive
- Jumpy
- Very High Energy
- Under-Socialized
-Resource guarding

Explanation of Behaviours:
- A young dog who is high energy (once comfortable) and will need a lot of attention, training, exercise, and enrichment daily to do well.
- She will need to be socialized a lot in a safe and proper way to help set her up for success in the future.
- She will need continued work on her basics as well as more difficult behavious such as jumping up for attention or in excitement.
- She is nervous with new people and in new environments. She will need her adopters to work with her slowly to help her become more confident and comfortable when experiencing new things.
- She has shown touch sensitivity with new people and in new environments.
- She will need her new home to work on her resource guarding that can help her be confident that everything she needs will be readily available to her
-She has shown some reactivity while here at the shelter

This dog would benefit from:
- An active, adult only home
- A quiet home
- Lots of training and socialization
- A lot of time and attention

Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog:
- Basic obedience training
- Basic manners
- Lots of socialization
- Work on touch sensitivity
- Work on resource guarding
- Work on reactivity

**For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact
sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions

**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

Additional adoption info

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
