My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A CUTE GAL LOOKING FOR A CALM HOME:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 21 lbs.

Hi, my name is Xandi!  I had a home, but after my home situation fell apart, I was shuffled around a bit and – thankfully – was able to make my way to Mostly Mutts.  I’m so glad I did, because they are committed to finding my furever family and – for that – I am grateful! I am currently in the prison/foster training program offsite and learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I’m available to meet.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came in with another young dog and have met dogs at Mostly Mutts and – though I didn’t want to play with them – I had friendly interest in the more mellow dogs.  So, if you have a nice, calm doggie at home, let’s meet! / My previous owner reported that I was good with cats, so if you have a dog-friendly kitty at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I don’t remember meeting kids in my previous home but I’m nervous and shy with people initially and a flight risk, so if there are kids in my new home, it’s best that they are older and know to give me my space and time to get to know them.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I arrived at Mostly Mutts scared and unsure.  Once the volunteers began working their magic, I slowly began to come out of my shell – and a sweet little love bug emerged!  Originally not wanting to walk down a crowded hallway, I am becoming more confident and comfortable on my walks. When walking me, please keep a good hold of my leash since it’s new and I may be afraid of some sounds, and I don’t want to pull away and get lost or hurt.  A sweet and playful friend awaits you who is also a good cuddler once I know we are buddies! / My energy level is 4 - 6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  I’ve mastered the ‘down’ command and am making strides with my leash confidence.  Check back soon to see what else I have learned. / I do well in my little room at the shelter. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  Once I am comfortable with you, I warm up and will be your sweet furry friend.  Sweet talk and Pup-Peroni treats go a long way (but don’t overdo the treats - lol).  I love toys and seem especially fond of women.  I just need time to settle into a new situation, then I enjoy the company of my people. / I was originally quite wary of men.  The volunteers have slowly introduced and let me spend time with the calm and patient male volunteers and that is helping. Loud or sudden noises still startle me, and I would not be happy in a loud, busy type of home with lots of folks coming and going.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.

I am looking for a loving home where I will be a cherished member of the family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
