My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dear Diary,

It’s me, Stella—the couch-respecting, zoomie-doing, snack-waiting professional good girl. Today I curled into my signature pretzel pose (seriously, I fold up like a tiny travel iron) and patiently waited for someone to notice how adoptable I am. Spoiler: still waiting.

I don’t mean to brag (okay, I do), but I’m basically the perfect roommate. I politely wait to be invited on the couch, go into my crate like a champ, and I’m a real lady when it comes to mealtime manners. I take treats soooo gently you'd think I was trying not to crinkle a leaf. I'm not destructive when left alone—just a chill little loaf waiting for you to come back.

I've got the perfect balance of chill and fun, can match any energy level, and when I do my little polite sit and then burst into zoomies? It's a crowd-pleaser.

Also? I look absolutely ridiculous (in the best way) when I throw myself into full bat mode—face upside down, belly up, legs flying—just waiting for some 10/10 belly rubs. I fully commit to the flop. The kids call me Stella Bella or Stelly Belly, and honestly? I eat that up.

I’ve attended dog playgroups during boarding without any problems (I’ve got social skills, thank you very much), and even the vet techs during my last visit couldn’t get enough of me. Apparently, I sound like a bit of a goober on leash, but once I’m home or riding in the car with my favorite humans (especially the tiny ones!), I’m basically a certified angel. I even lived with a cat once and kept it classy. Foster dad says I’m perfect. I say—he’s right.

Still confused why no one’s adopted me yet. Maybe I need a TikTok. Or a sandwich board. Or a skywriter.

Anyway, Diary... maybe tomorrow will be my day.

Love,
Stella (2 years, 46 pounds of love)

Go meet their pets

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
