Jolene has been patiently waiting for someone to open their heart to give her a home. Jolene is know as the hugger when she goes to adoption events. She is so excited to see new people she just wants to hug you and would crawl up in your lap if you would let her. She loves running with her ball or just sitting on the hill watching me. She sometimes gets nervous when meeting other dogs, usually bigger ones, she loves to play and she loves puppies she has been so good with new puppies I foster. As all her siblings she loves the water, small pool and went wading in the creek on a walk with a new doggy friend the other day. Jolene is a little unsure of a car.. but she rides well .. getting to know good thing do happen when you go for a ride. Jolene is a good girl … she just needs someone to give her a chance.
Jolene’s vaccinations are current for her age, she has been spayed, wormed, microchipped and is on flea and tick prevention.

We will review your application for preliminary approval before asking the foster parent to contact you to set up a time to meet the pet. You may also have concerns about how the animal will fit your home environment. When the foster parent contacts you, you will be able to discuss your concerns with someone who has first-hand experience with the pet.
After you meet the animal, you and the foster parent can decide if this is definitely the forever pet for you.

The Bedford Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1994 and dedicated to eliminating the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Bedford County, VA through education, spay/neuter programs, and companion animal adoptions. We are NOT the tax-funded Bedford County shelter on Falling Creek Road, although we do try to help the animals there whenever possible. Our adoptable pets live in volunteer foster homes where they receive the care and attention they deserve while awaiting a permanent home.
Our various programs for Bedford County and City of Bedford residents include::
•A low cost spay/neuter program for area pets
•The construction of an adoption animal center, Vernon D Lybolt Adoption Center, at 829 Ole Turnpike Road in Bedford.
•Find homes for abandoned and homeless animals through our adoption program.
•Help pet owners with unexpected expenses involving their pets, through our Emergency Fund program.
•Provide humane traps and spay/neuter subsidies for feral cats through our Forgotten Felines program.
•Humane Education program for area Scout troops and schools.
