My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there caring humans, it’s Blaze and I may be almost 9 ½ years old but I am learning new things every day. I have been treated to car rides with the volunteers and have become an easy traveler as I enjoy seeing all the sights when I am out and about. I look forward to leisurely leash walks, I`m pleasant, happy, funny, calm, approachable and I love being in the presence of people. I enjoy playing short distance fetch, I respond quickly to ‘sit’ commands, and will raise a paw for a long handshake and take treats softly like a real gentleman. I am not a digger and won`t have accidents in your home like a puppy would. If you are a mature adult and I am a mature dog, we might just be the missing piece in each other lives!

I am looking for my Valentine because being in a shelter since September 2024 is long enough to wait for love! I enjoyed my life in a foster home and got along great with their older kids and my three canine buddies. As a hound dog I am a bit of a talker when I greet you, but I am not a constant talker. I am the good looking mature and gentle dog that you are looking for who is still young at heart.
How can you not be charmed by the twinkle in my soulful eyes? Don`t let my size deter you from taking me home as I am older, wiser and still very much a good and gentle dog. If you have a yard where I can wander around and join you inside when we are all tired out, that would be awesome. I am a healthy older guy, I don’t have behavioral issues, and I keep getting by passed on adoption because I’m not a young pup anymore.

I’ve had my teeth cleaned, been neutered, and I am up to date on my vaccines. I have a microchip as well, so I am all set to go home with you today.

The biggest thing missing in my life is YOU! So, bring your family and let`s do a “meet and see”. Call the Humane Society of Sedona at (928)-282-4679 as we are open from 10-4 every day of the week, except major Holidays.

More about this shelter

Our Vision - Be Our Heart & Voice
Building a caring community where every adoptable and treatable pet finds a life-long loving home.

Our Mission
The Humane Society of Sedona is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets in our community and beyond. The Society has served the Verde Valley since 1966.

The Linda and Allan Brecher Center for Animals at the society is designed to allow every person, who desires the love of a pet, to adopt and provide a forever loving home. The Center provides quality care and positive reinforcement behavior training for adoptable pets. Passionate volunteers help walk and socialize the pets in our care. Foster pet parents are an important part of caring for pets outside the Center.

The Society provides vital services for pets and people alike through income-based affordable spay/neuter surgeries and vaccination clinics. Also, for families in need to feed their pets, we have a Pet Food Program.

Another public resource is our adult and youth educational programs.

The Society relies on community support, contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Society’s thrift stores and some fees for service in order to save pets’ lives.
