My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Guntersville, AL
DOB: 05/25/2023

Meet Buster, a handsome Great Dane and Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his smile! Buster is a fun-loving, playful guy who enjoys the best of both worlds—running and playing outside with his dog friends, then curling up inside for some well-earned lounging. He’s social, affectionate, and happiest when he’s surrounded by his people (or his furry siblings).

Buster’s energy level is moderate—he’s always ready for a good romp, but he also knows how to relax and settle down. He’s an easygoing companion who loves to be included in whatever you’re doing. Whether it’s a walk, some yard time, or a movie on the couch, Buster just wants to be by your side.

One of Buster’s most endearing qualities is how much he loves to love and be loved. He’s a total sweetheart who does great with both dogs and cats. In fact, he’s known to snuggle up with his feline friends and share his bed with them. Around kittens, he sometimes gets a little too enthusiastic with play, but he means well and just wants to be everyone’s buddy.

Buster does struggle with some separation anxiety—he doesn’t like being left alone and can become anxious or destructive if he’s by himself too long. He does beautifully when he’s in the company of other dogs or has people nearby, so he’d thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. A work-from-home person, retiree, or a family with plenty of company would be ideal for him.

He’s fully house-trained, rides well in the car, and enjoys his walks (though sometimes his excitement gets the better of him). He’s not a fan of the crate, preferring instead to relax freely in the home near his loved ones.

Buster hasn’t lived with children in his current foster home but has met kids before and loved all the extra attention and snuggles. He’s a friendly, gentle boy who greets everyone with an open heart and a wagging tail.

This big, soft-hearted guy is ready to find a forever home that can give him the love, attention, and companionship he craves. Buster would be the perfect match for someone who wants a loyal best friend who will always be there to make you smile, snuggle close, and remind you just how special unconditional love can be.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
