My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

💙 Meet Tru 💙
Our big-hearted bulldozer with an even bigger personality!

Tru has been at the Marion Area Humane Society for far too long, and every day he reminds us why he deserves the best home ever. He’s a big, goofy boy who loves nothing more than to romp around outside, soaking up the sun with his favorite toys. Stuffy toys, squeaky toys, chew bones—you name it, he loves it! His toy collection is basically his pride and joy, and he never turns down a treat (or five).

Tru might look like a tough guy, but underneath all that muscle and mischief is a dog who just wants to be loved. He’s happiest when he’s playing hard, rolling in the grass, or carrying three toys in his mouth at once like it’s an Olympic event. He gets along great with other dogs who share his rough-and-tumble playstyle, but he would do best in a home without cats or young children—he doesn’t always realize his own strength.

Tru has spent so much time waiting for someone to see past his big body and silly antics to the incredible heart inside. He’s loyal, loving, and full of life, and he’s ready to finally trade his kennel for a backyard and a family of his own.

If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh every single day, keep your toy budget on its toes, and love you with everything he’s got—Tru is your guy. 💙More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter

Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
