My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for your soulmate in dog form? Meet Pinky!

Pinky is a 3 year-old, 45 pound pocket pittie with a heart of gold, a love of fetch, and snuggles for days. She’s not just adorable, she’s the whole package: smart, sweet, playful, and ready to be your new best friend.

Pinky is an absolute star student. She graduated from the Ultimate Dog Training Program at Proactive Dog Training in Cary, NC, and knows all her commands: sit, down, stay, here, yes, no, and out. She’s also crate trained, potty trained, and rocks her “place” command like a pro. Whether it’s time to relax or get moving, Pinky listens and responds with enthusiasm. She’s easy to live with and even easier to love.

Her energy is just right: enough to keep you active and laughing, but not over the top. She loves fetch (like, really loves it), sniff-and-seek games, and mental enrichment. Though she’s just as happy to curl up with a chew bone and snooze beside you. A walk, a little play, and a lot of love is all she needs.

Pinky is the ultimate cuddle buddy. She’s affectionate, goofy, and will happily be your little shadow around the house. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to share life with someone who will greet you like a hero every time you come home, this is your girl!

She’s currently living with another dog and does well with calm, respectful pups. She’s not one for dog parks or high-energy dog play, but she can absolutely thrive with one dog companion or as your one and only. In fact, she'd love being the center of your world!

Pinky would thrive in a home that loves a little adventure walks, jogs, play sessions and is ready to welcome a truly devoted, well-trained dog into the family.

If you're ready to fall in love with a dog who gives you her whole heart, Pinky is ready to give you everything she's got.

Pinky is currently being fostered in North Carolina and can be transported as far north as Maine to the right adoptive family.

More about this rescue

Underhound Railroad was formed in 2009 by a group of friends, with the goal of rescuing innocent dogs from death row in Connecticut shelters. Underhound Railroad has now grown to include rescue communities in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, North Carolina, South Carolina and Utah.

With our focus on rural areas where shelters are overflowing with abandoned dogs waiting to find rescue, our network of Underhound volunteers work hard to prevent undeserved deaths, see that medical, emotional and behavioral needs are tended to, and transportation as well as a loving foster family are provided to the pups on their journey to finding their forever homes!
