My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT MARGIE
Margie is a 2-year-old terrier mix with a big heart, a playful spirit, and a love for all things squeaky! She originally came to HAP in 2023 from a high-intake shelter out of state, and after spending time in a loving home, she sadly returned when her owner could no longer care for her due to health issues. Understandably, Margie was confused and overwhelmed at first, but with patience, lots of toys, and even more cheese treats, her silly and sweet personality came shining through!

Margie loves playing with stuffed animals, tennis balls, frisbees, and squeaky toys. Pretty much any toy is a good toy in her book. She enjoys going for walks in her harness and may try to take the lead, just to make sure you're keeping up with the adventure. While Margie is still learning how to interact with other dogs, she’s made great progress with slow, positive introductions and previously lived with another dog in a home. She’s also crate-trained and enjoys having a cozy space of her own. One of her favorite things is a good sniff-filled walk, especially if it ends with tuna or cheese. Margie can be fearful around young children, so she’s looking for an adult-only home or one with older, respectful kids who understand her need for space. Once she feels safe, Margie will show you just how affectionate, loyal, and downright hilarious she can be. She’ll make you laugh with her playful antics, then curl up for a cozy nap by your side. Margie is searching for a patient, loving adopter to remind her that the world isn’t such a scary place.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
