The devastation of losing her owner was amplified when Lucinda was left behind in the home they’d shared all of her life, with no one to comfort her but a kind neighbor who fed her. 8 months of isolation and bewilderment left Lucinda discouraged and distressed. Being delivered to the safety of our care didn’t feel better, just shockingly different. Our team provided her a quiet space in our Long Term Care Home where she’s been able to ease back into having a social life, but on her terms. Time is our most valuable tool for overwhelmed cats. By giving Lucinda the time she’s needed, and a plan to safeguard her health in her golden years, she was allowed to reveal to us what she would truly enjoy in her next and furever home: a place all to herself as the only pet, with appreciative, experienced adults who wish nothing but to give her love when she asks for it and allow her her space when she needs it. Our vets have worked on a comfortable plan to address her diabetes through medication, which will be covered at cost through our Pet Health Centers. The more she’s allowed to breathe in tranquility, the more she craves attention. We’ve grown to adore our lady of the House—and our oldest feline resident at Animal League America—and look forward to introducing her to the hero who takes her home purrmanently.
