My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Seeking My Furever Bestie!

Hey there lovely humans! My name is Oakie and I’m on the lookout for my very own special person, or people. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

First things first, I’m a mini–Australian Shepherd and yes, I have the floofiest booty you’ve ever seen! I rock a stunning black tri coat and have these mesmerizing blue eyes that will melt your heart. I might be carrying a few extra pounds (a little more of me to love), but that just means I’m extra cuddly! I am 3 yrs old, spayed and up to date on my vaccines and preventatives.

I’m a total people-lover. I’m devoted, loyal and just want to be by your side. I already know some cool tricks like sit, lay down and shake and I’m always eager to learn more. I’m also house, and crate trained, which means that we can skip the messy training part and get straight to the fun!

I’m happiest when I’m playing in a fenced yard, especially if there’s a basketball or soccer ball involved. I’m a bit of a solo star, so I’d prefer to be the only dog in the house. I just want to soak up all your attention!

My Ideal Home:
- A loving human (or family who wants a devoted companion.
- A fenced yard for playtime.
- Someone who appreciates my floofy charm and doesn’t mind a little extra cuddle.
- A home where I can be an only dog.

If you are looking for a loyal, loving and slightly chunky best friend, then I’m your girl! Let’s meet and see if we’re a paw-fect match.

I am being fostered in Richmond, VA. Here is the application:https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application

There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family.

More about this rescue

Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.

In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 60,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.

Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.

We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
