My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From Survivor to Mayor… Life’s an Adventure with Addie!

Addie

Hi pals! I’m Addie – a playful, sweet, and affectionate two-year-old Billy Mix, weighing in at 49 pounds. I’m not just any pup – I’m a survivor, a lover of life, and a local icon! I was rescued from the terrible conditions of the Chandler 55 case, where I was one of 55 dogs found in heartbreaking neglect in Chandler, Arizona. The woman hoarding us is now in jail for animal abuse, but I don’t dwell on the past—because I didn’t just survive, I thrived. I’m ready for my next chapter in a loving home… hopefully with you!

Due to my past, I don’t have use of my back legs, making me incontinent. However, I don’t let that slow me down one bit. With my trusty wheelchair and stroller, I zoom through life with unstoppable energy. Whether I’m playing tug-of-war, going on new adventures, or enjoying snuggles, I prove that disability doesn’t mean inability!

I even earned the title of Dog Mayor of Mt. Helix in 2024, showing the world that special needs pups are just as happy, adventurous, and full of love as any other dog. When I’m not in my wheels, I love to just hang out by your side, soak up affection, make you laugh, and be part of the action.

I’ll need a special kind of home—one that understands my unique needs and is willing to help me in and out of my wheels. Since I’m incontinent, I wear the cutest diapers, and I’ll need a family that’s comfortable managing my potty needs. But trust me – I am 100% worth the extra effort. I will repay you with endless love, loyalty, and laughter every single day. A mellow or active home would suit me just fine, and I’d love to have a doggie sibling to keep me company.

I’m great with other dogs, I like cats, and while I haven’t met many kids, I’d most likely be fine with them, too! I deserve the best life, and I can’t wait to find a family who sees just how special I am. So, what do you say? Could you be my pawfect match? Let’s roll into our future together—adopt me today!

My adoption fee is $150 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.  You can also check me out on Instagram at @Fostering_4leggedpups.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
