My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Honey is an amazing, friendly cat in the prime of life. He walks up to strangers. He is curious yet calm, and very smart. Anyone lucky enough to make Honey part of his or her family will be blessed with a loving and devoted companion. To Honey, there is nothing better than stretching his long body on my bed, following me from room to room, or watching TV with me - especially if it’s a nature program with animals. He is fond of looking outside the window and watching anything that moves. He is also quick to play with string toys, purr when I pet him, and sleep near his family. Occasionally, Honey will even engage me in a good conversation, especially when it’s time to eat or get a treat. He is very food and treat motivated, not a fussy eater, and easily trained. He always uses the litter box and most times he uses the scratching post.

Honey has beautiful markings. He’s buff colored (like honey) with a striped orange and white tail. His coat is soft and he’s very good at grooming himself. And then, there are his eyes -- his expressive, green eyes. They are gorgeous and shine with all the great warmth and love Honey has to give.

He was picked up as a stray by a Kitten Rescue volunteer just outside her home. Sadly our volunteer passed away not even 1 year after rescuing Honey. So, now he’s looking for his forever home once again. He didn’t get along with all the cats at the Cat Café so he was transferred to me and he’s happy being the only cat in my home.

Honey is FIV+ and it is likely that he contracted it when he was a stray. This has not impacted him at
all. Given proper care and attention a cat who is FIV+ will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat.
The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring blood contact. It is not transmissible to humans.

It is time to give Honey a wonderful forever home he so richly deserves. That home would not include another cat, a dog, and probably would not include kids. The BEST scenario for Honey would be to be the only pet in the family, and the center of your
attention. Honey needs a forever home. How about opening your home and heart to this handsome cat?

Additional adoption info

We adopt animals to homes in the Los Angeles area and neighboring counties.

To help ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, committed homes, we have a screening process before you can adopt a pet from Kitten Rescue. We reserve the right to turn down potential adopters as we deem necessary. First, we ask that you complete our Adoption Questionnaire at kittenrescue.org/cat-adoption-form/. You can complete the form online or you may stop by a weekly adoption event to complete form in person. Second, a home visit or a home delivery of the cat or kitten is also required as part of our adoption process.

The Kitten Rescue adoption fee is $150 for a kitten or cat up to 10 years old, and $100 for each additional kitten or cat to the same household ($250 if you adopt a pair). Cats above 10 years old have a fee reduction of 50%, for an adoption fee of $75 each.

All of our cats have already been:
Spayed or neutered
Vaccinated – with at least one FVRCP vaccination
Treated for fleas
Dewormed
Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
Microchipped

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
