My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

American female guinea pig -- "Chip"
Born approx. 1/2022 (tricolor -- black, white, & red -- Chip) -- 4 years old

Chip took a few days to come out of her igloo when she first got here... and a bit longer to really be comfortable to not dart right back into them when she would see people around.  Though now that that she has been here for a long white, she can be seen relaxing in her cage and munching on her hay and veggies while people are around.  She is a sweet girl, albeit a bit shy (which is very common for guinea pigs!).

She does well with her nail trims!

Thoughts about these girls from our farmhand -- "Shy upon first coming out, but sweet!  Loves to just sit and stare at ya."

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process requires all of our potential homes to read our care packet and fill out an adoption form. The care packet talks about the care and needs of the specific animal the home is looking to adopt. The adoption form asks questions about the type of home the animal will be going into, what type of cage will be used, what type of food the animal will be fed, and so on - questions to verify that the pet will be cared for well in its new home. There is no application fee with our rescue, the only fees are the adoption fees for the pets.

Go meet their pets

Visiting our adoptable animals requires an appointment. To make an appointment with us, give us a call 219-789-0026. The rescue is run out of our house, so we are not always home for someone to view the animals. We are home most afternoons/evenings, and people are welcome to come visit then (after having called and set up an appointment).

More about this rescue

I am Ashley Gajda and I am the "owner" (if it could even be called that) of the rescue. I opened this rescue because I hated to see small pets without homes, and wanted to help. We opened the rescue in 2003 with very few cages, but have since expanded and now take in a variety of small animals and have plenty of spare cages. It is just me running the rescue, so I'm always looking for volunteers to help with whatever needs it at the time.
