Chico came to us after his owner had a health crisis and was no longer able to care for him. He spent nearly his entire nine years with the same people, in the same home, and such a sudden change is hard for any dog-- but Chico is resilient and doing well in his foster home.
In his foster home, Chico has had the opportunity to get out an about more, and he feels pretty cool riding in a backpack! He'll grumble a little when he meets new people and dogs, but he's just talking, and he gets over it quickly. He's spent his whole life around kids and another dog, so we expect he'll be fine in a home with kids and dogs, given proper introductions and time to acclimate. He's pretty lazy and he loves his bed, and laps!
Chico is about 9 years old, 12 pounds (could stand to lose a couple), neutered, vaccinated and started on heartworm/flea/tick prevention.

We are a private, no-kill rescue in North Carolina. Our mission is to help end pet overpopulation, abandonment and neglect. We provide care and find homes for dogs of any breed, age or medical need. We have saved over 2,000 dogs in the last 10 years. We hope to have this number keep growing as we strive to save these sweet souls.
