RESCUE STORY -
¡Hola! My name is Mauro!
I am a warrior in search of love! Some time ago, I was found alone on a highway in Santa Fe, sick and struggling. I had a terrible disease called TVT, and I didn’t know if I’d make it. But then, kind people found me. They didn’t give up on me. They took me in, gave me medicine, and helped me get stronger every day. Now, I’m healthy and ready for a new life full of love!
My rescuers think I’m about five years old. I am calm, gentle, and always up for giving and receiving love. I may have had a rough start, but now all I want is to be your loyal friend, to sit by your side and share quiet moments together. I’m just looking for a family to love me, and I’ll give them all my love in return!
Will you be the one to give me the home I deserve? I’m ready!
TEMPERAMENT - I am an affectionate, calm, gentle and well-behaved dog. If you are looking for a loyal companion, I am ready to give you all my love! Video 1, Video 2, Video 3
ENERGY LEVEL - Low. I am a calm dude and love affection and companionship! Here I am at the dog park, chilling as usual (video).
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Unknown.
Dogs – Yes. Here I am with dogs at the dog park (video).
Cats – Unknown.
PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – Good. I am gentle and calm and like a leisurely pace. Here I am on a walk (video). I would love an adopter who is happy to continue to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)
Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.
HEALTH NOTES:
I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
NOTE: Based on the looks of my teeth in photos, I will likely need dental work once adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax ($650.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
