Here's what the humans have to say about me:
HERSCHEL ~~ Neutered Male, Pit Bull Terrier Mix, Black and White, DOB: 5/20/2015, 74 pounds
**Herschel is eligible for our Seniors for Seniors Adoption Discount. If a Senior Citizen adopts Herschel, we will waive the adoption fee completely and will offer his new owner a 20% discount on all of Herschel's future vet services, food, medications, etc.
This is our very handsome and happy boy, Herschel. He is a sturdy, stocky bundle of black and white love! Herschel is an amazing dog who is super social, very well behaved, and does not have accidents in his kennel. Herschel makes it his full time job to greet everyone that he meets and does not leave anyone out. He also does very well on the leash and enjoys going for walks.
Herschel would love to live in a home with his own fenced backyard, cool toys to play with, comfy beds to nap in and maybe another friendly dog or two. Herschel loves children and would enjoy having playmates in his life. He is a gentle, sweet and very loving boy who is looking for a second chance at a great new life.
If you have space in your heart and home for an exceptional boy, come and meet Herschel today and see if he is your perfect match!
MEDICAL: Herschel is healthy, current on vaccines/vet services/bloodwork, has a negative fecal test and heartworm test.
His adoption fee is $144 and includes a month of Simparica Trio (for heartworms, fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites) to go home with him. Herschel should remain on heartworm and flea/tick prevention for life to keep him happy and healthy.
To meet Herschel and see if he checks off all the boxes, visit him at Crabapple Knoll Vet Clinic, 12604 Crabapple Road, Alpharetta, GA. 770.475.8272. Please visit at least two hours prior to closing. Monday to Friday 630AM to 7PM, Saturday and Sunday 8AM to 4PM. We are closed on all major holidays.
No appointment is necessary to meet any of our adoptable strays. Adoptions are on a first come, first served basis.

Our goal is to find good homes for all of the sick and injured pets we have, and to adopt them out in the best health possible. Each pet is fully vetted and cared for by our amazing Veterinary Staff! Our adoption fee is $130, which includes a spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccines, and a microchip. We offer a two week trial period, during which time you may return the pet for a full refund if the placement does not work out. We will accept a pet back after two weeks, but no refund will be issued. If a pet is returned after a longer time period we may require a $130 relinquishment fee. We do not perform home visits or have any particular adoption requirements, such as fenced yard. We do, however, reserve the right to turn down potential adopters if we feel like it will not be in the best interest of the pet.

More about this rescue
Our Stray Program began in 1988, with one dog named Redman. He was rescued by a client who indicated that he had belonged to a homeless man. The man had since disappeared, and the red Chow was ill and now living on his own. We brought him to our Clinic and named him Redman. He tested heartworm positive, was treated for that condition and was also neutered. One of our Veterinarians fell in love and adopted him. Unfortunately, Redman did not live long due to heartworm disease, but enjoyed several great years with his new owner. It was because of Redman that our Stray Program for sick and injured animals came to fruition. We began a fund to support the Program and, since then, have found many sick and injured pets their forever homes! Thanks to Dr. Joe Gaston, we are able to continue our work to help sick and injured strays, and have the opportunity to give back to our pet community!
