My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HERSCHEL ~~ Neutered Male, Pit Bull Terrier Mix, Black and White, DOB: 5/20/2015, 74 pounds

HERSCHEL IS AWESOME AND HE WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW IT! BRING THIS LOVEBUG HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND MAKE ALL OF HIS DREAMS COME TRUE.

**Herschel is eligible for our Seniors for Seniors Adoption Discount. If a Senior Citizen adopts Herschel, we'll waive the adoption fee and give his new owner a 15% discount on all vet services, food, preventatives, etc.

Herschel is a great dog and wants to be your new bestie. He greets everyone he sees and is always happy to indulge anyone who would like to rub his belly. He's ready to find his forever home and experience all the fun things that life has to offer. He is ready to get out of the cage and into his forever home!

Get ready to give your heart away and fall in love with this gentle, loving sweetheart of a dog. Herschel is a sturdy, stocky bundle of black and white adoration and love! He is social, outgoing, friendly, very well behaved, and playful. Herschel makes it his full-time job to greet everyone he meets and does not leave anyone out. He is truly the Welcome Wagon of Crabapple. His tail is in constant motion and he wags it with his entire body.
LIKES: Herschel is big on belly rubs and giving hugs. He enjoys playtime with other friendly dogs and is in a perpetual upbeat mood! Being around Herschel will put a smile on your face and make you want to spend lots of time with this huggable boy! He doesn't have a care in the world and will draw you into his positive energy.
Herschel is looking for a home with a fenced backyard, some cool toys to play with, comfy beds to nap in and maybe another friendly dog. He loves children and would enjoy having many playmates and family members in his life. He would also love to go on walks and other adventures.

MEDICAL: Herschel is healthy, current on vaccines/vet services and bloodwork, has a negative fecal test and heartworm test. He is on thyroid medication which he will need to remain on.
His adoption fee is $75 right now and includes a month of Simparica Trio (for heartworms, fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites) to go home with him. Herschel should remain on heartworm and flea/tick prevention for life to keep him happy and healthy.

If you have space in your heart and home for an exceptional boy, come and meet Herschel today and see if he is your perfect match! Additional adoption info

Our goal is to find good homes for all of the sick and injured pets we have, and to adopt them out in the best health possible. Each pet is fully vetted and cared for by our amazing Veterinary Staff! Our adoption fee is $130, which includes a spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccines, and a microchip. We offer a two week trial period, during which time you may return the pet for a full refund if the placement does not work out. We will accept a pet back after two weeks, but no refund will be issued. If a pet is returned after a longer time period we may require a $130 relinquishment fee. We do not perform home visits or have any particular adoption requirements, such as fenced yard. We do, however, reserve the right to turn down potential adopters if we feel like it will not be in the best interest of the pet.

Go meet their pets

Our Clinic is located at 12604 Crabapple Road, Alpharetta, Georgia 30004. Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6:30AM to 7:00PM and Saturday-Sunday 8AM to 4PM. We have a few adoption events at the Clinic each year. All of our adoptable pets may be visited at the Clinic at any time. However, if a pet is labeled as being fostered, please call ahead so we can arrange to have the pet available for you.

More about this rescue

Our Stray Program began in 1988, with one dog named Redman. He was rescued by a client who indicated that he had belonged to a homeless man. The man had since disappeared, and the red Chow was ill and now living on his own. We brought him to our Clinic and named him Redman. He tested heartworm positive, was treated for that condition and was also neutered. One of our Veterinarians fell in love and adopted him. Unfortunately, Redman did not live long due to heartworm disease, but enjoyed several great years with his new owner. It was because of Redman that our Stray Program for sick and injured animals came to fruition. We began a fund to support the Program and, since then, have found many sick and injured pets their forever homes! Thanks to Dr. Joe Gaston, we are able to continue our work to help sick and injured strays, and have the opportunity to give back to our pet community!
