Meet Mikko💗
💙 Mikko's News Account: @super.rocky
💙 Gender: Female
💙 Age: Estimated 2 years old (Born in March 2023)
💙 Weight: 6.75 kg / 14.88 lb
💙 Mikko's News Account: @super.rooky
1⃣ Health Condition
* Spayed.
* Microchipped, fully recovered from heartworm, and dental scaling complete.
* She was treated for high intraocular pressure and inflammation in her right eye. Although the inflammation is under control, cloudiness remains. She will require lifelong management with one type of eye drop.
* She had a refractory corneal ulceration in her left eye, so she underwent a SCCED procedure.
* Her hind legs have malformed due to living in a metal cage with holes underneath for a long time. As a result, she was diagnosed with a grade 2 luxating patella on her right hind leg. She has a lot of muscles so it hasn’t caused her much discomfort, but she needs weight management.
2⃣ Rescue Story
* Mikko was found at the Gimje City Shelter with a neck wound. She was urgently rescued because remaining at the shelter in such condition could have put her life at risk.
3⃣ Basic Information
* With People: Is a little shy around strangers at first, but warms up quickly and enjoys human company. Doesn’t avoid people in particular except when they try to touch her. With familiar people, she shows a relaxed demeanor and happily approaches them first, wagging her tail. Is a cutie that keeps asking for pets.
* With Dogs: Approaches all friends with positive interest. Gets along well with her foster sibling so we don’t think she would have any problems living with another dog. When meeting new dogs, she has a calm demeanor and doesn’t react even if the other dog is barking aggressively.
* With Cats: Isn’t particularly interested in cats.
* Separation Anxiety: Doesn't have separation anxiety and warmly welcomes her caregiver with a wagging tail when s/he returns.
* Potty Training: While she may have accidents in new places, once familiar, she goes both indoors and outdoors well. Lately, potties at least once a day outdoors, but also has a 100% success rate with indoor potty.
* Hygiene: Accepts baths and drying calmly. Is still a bit scared of nail trimming but bravely accepts paw pad fur trimming. After walks, she lifts her paws on her own, making it easy to wipe them clean. Accepts ear cleaning very well. Still feels uncomfortable with tooth brushing but is okay with swallow-safe toothpaste. Is not afraid of the eye drops she’s been using regularly. Even lifts her head first, recognizing that it's snack time.
* Walks: Does well, keeping pace with her caregiver. Does not react to cats during walks. Only pulls on the leash a little when she wants to sniff something, but doesn’t pull at all while walking. Has had consistent recall training, so she reliably comes when called. After having corneal surgery, she has only been going out for potty walks.
* Car Sickness: Drools and vomits in the car. Seems to have severe motion sickness. Must take anti-nausea medication or injections prior to long-distance car rides. When being held, she barely has any motion sickness, so she’s being trained to stay calm. Recently, she was fine with the car engine turned on for five minutes.
* Biting: She doesn’t bite aggressively nor defensively, but she has a tendency to open her mouth wide and play bite when she’s playing, and doesn’t want to drop any food that’s in her mouth.
* Barking: May bark at sudden noises at the front door. Sometimes, may bark to indicate that she wants something and this is being trained for with nosework.
* Likes: Likes walking on the grass, so be careful of ticks. Likes eating so she can do a lot for food rewards.
* Dislikes: Is terrified of sudden loud noises. Doesn’t prefer being held. Is scared of thunder.
* Tricks: Has mastered ‘sit,’ ‘paw,’ ‘house,’ and ‘wait.’

All our dogs fly from South Korea to the US when their adoptions are finalized so the adopters cannot go through "meet and greet."
But once applicants pass zoom interview, we will connect adopter to foster team for the most up to date news as well as photos and videos. The adopter can post any questions and can make video call as well.
Please hold our dog's hands so that they can forget about the painful past and live happily.

More about this rescue
ADOGS(Adopt Dogs), a non-profit organization, is an abandoned dog foster/adoption organization launched by an individual volunteer group that has rescued, fostered, adopted dogs since 2018.
We are conducting rescue, foster, adopt from South Korea rural shelter. We also rescue dogs irregularly from illegal dog farms or any other places that need help.
We rescue large and small dogs of all breeds, including dogs with special needs.
Although we can't save all abandoned dogs in the world, we are doing our best to the dogs in front of us so that their lives can be changed like any other pets.
In expanding our search for adoption leads, we’ve broadened our mission: To bring at-risk dogs across the Pacific to loving stateside families.
Due to limited demand for large-breed dogs in Korea, arranging for local adoption has proven almost impossible. Instead, we seek to bring these persecuted dogs to the United States where dogs have a higher chance for adoption and survival.
