Say hello to Arlo, a 2 ½-year-old sweetheart with a big heart and even bigger potential. He may not have had the best start in life, but Arlo is making up for lost time with a spirit full of love and a tail that never stops wagging.
Arlo is what we lovingly call a “project dog”—not because he’s broken, but because he’s still learning how to be the amazing companion he’s meant to be. He’s working on his leash skills and learning the basics like sit, stay, and how to politely ignore squirrels. But don’t let that fool you—Arlo is already a pro at the most important stuff: loving people, snuggling close, and making you smile.
This fun-loving guy adores being pet and thrives on affection. He especially lights up around kids, showing off his gentle, playful side like he was made to be a family dog. While he hasn’t lived with other dogs, he’s been nothing but respectful of his neighbors at the shelter, and he’s open to making furry friends with the right match and introductions.
Arlo is the kind of dog who will grow with you, bond deeply with you, and celebrate every small victory along the way. With a little guidance, a lot of love, and some patience, he’s going to become someone’s greatest “glow-up” story.
If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, endlessly lovable pup who’s ready to learn and love with his whole heart, Arlo is waiting. Let his journey begin—with you.More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter
Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
