My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Toffee

Toffee is a female Torti DSH
DOB: June of 2024
Adoption fee: $75.00

I am a very gentle and sweet girl! I do enjoy attention, and I do seek it out! I am curious about new things and will get into anything I can. I am quite goofy and silly; I will be sure to make you laugh. I can be more reserved than my siblings, although I am very affectionate! I love to play with toys and run around with my siblings. While I do enjoy playing, I really enjoy taking a big nap and cuddling with the other cats!

I would do okay with another cat looking for a playmate or do okay as an only cat. I would do okay in a home with a cat friendly dog with a proper and slow introduction. I should do okay in a home with older children who are respectful of my boundaries. I don’t mind being held, but I will let you know when I am done.

More about this shelter

About Us:
We are the area's nonprofit advocate, sanctuary and source for companion animals since 1887.

Our Mission:
-to protect animals from suffering and cruelty
-to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals
-to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.

We believe in second chances at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Our service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties. We keep animals as long as it takes to find a good home for adoption once the animal passes temperament testing and is checked for good health. The Watkins Road shelter cares for up to 100 animals a day, and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. Countless area residents use the Society’s animal care, adoption and education programs each year. The Humane Society is overseen by a board of directors. We do not receive any government or tax dollars, or national humane organization funding. Our services are made possible by people in our community who care about homeless cats and dogs - people like you!

The Humane Society of South Central Michigan values:
-The ethical and humane treatment of animals
-Its role as a shelter for animals that suffer from pain, fear, and neglect
-Community accountability for the welfare of its animals
-Responsible stewardship of our resources
-Community involvement to achieve our goals
-Education about responsible pet ownership
-The joy of sharing a life with animal companions
