If you happen to drive past and see a brown blurr running through the yard, it’s most likely our superstar Gibby. This handsome, three year old brindle boy is full of excitement and energy, and would make a great exercise partner. The first thing he likes to do when in the yards, is take off at full speed, showing off his zoomies. Once his initial burst is out, next is on to sniff anywhere and everywhere, with a quick stop off at the pool. Gibby is very independent, and while he may act a bit stand-offish sometimes, prefers to have some kind of buddy with him. He loves playing and taking walks with our volunteers, and has enjoyed days of play-group with some of the other dogs. He does communicate well with other dogs and will let them know when he gets tired, but prefers not to be pushed too much when he wants to take a break. Once play-time is over, he likes coming inside for a snack and some well deserved rest and cool off time. That’s when you see just how sweet he can be, curled up on his bed, soft dreamy expression while he dreams of more play. Gibby is treat motivated and enjoys the softer treats to the harder ones.
Gibby is an amazing boy, who, with a bit of patience and understanding, would make a wonderful companion for a home looking for a younger and active dog. If you are interested in meeting Gibby, please fill out the adoption application (no commitment) on our website at Satchelslastresort.org.

More about this rescue
Satchel's Last Resort is a no-kill animal shelter/sanctuary whose mission is to Rescue, Rehab and Rehome dogs and cats with nowhere else to go because of breed, behavior or medical issues.
Each resident that comes to Satchel’s has its own unique and personal history. We get to know each one individually – favorite toy, favorite game, favorite foods. The dogs are housed in an airy shelter with spacious kennels, take three or four romps in the playard or walks per day, and even take car rides to let their fur flap in the wind. Cats are housed in two open cat room settings and receive social interaction with staff and volunteers every day. Most important to us -- we keep our dogs and cats safe from other residents and from humans who may want to harm them.
Trainers work with the dogs a few times a week to teach them that they can trust humans and other animals. Staff and volunteers work with our cats to keep them socialized or help them learn to trust again. We actively seek forever homes tailored to the needs of every individual pet so that they can live the rest of their lives among a family of their own.
At Satchel’s Last Resort, we believe that by harnessing the unconditional love that the dogs and cats in our sanctuary put forth everyday, the world becomes a brighter place for animals and people. Each and everyday we try to give a little of their love back – back to the pets and back to our community.
