My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Mulligan was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on April 6, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Mulligan! This sweet, sensitive guy might be a little shy at first, but give him a moment (and maybe a tennis ball), and you'll quickly see his goofy side shine through! Mulligan is the king of fetch and will happily chase down a ball with those hilarious zoomies and the cutest little bat ears flopping as he runs. He's made amazing progress in our care and is learning that new people can actually be pretty awesome. Once you're in his circle, Mulligan is pure love - silly, loyal, and always ready to be your shadow. He's dreaming of a calm, patient home where he can truly relax - young kids and chaotic energy aren't really his vibe. He's had mixed feelings about other dogs, and may do best without any other pups in the home. If you do have a resident canine, they should be should mellow and respectful. It's also important to have enough space for the two of them. A meet-and-greet will help everyone know if it's a match! Mulligan is waiting for someone who sees past the initial shyness and falls in love with his quirky charm, big heart, and those ridiculously cute ears. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who's equal parts playful and snuggly, Mulligan might just be your guy! Come meet him today!

At SDHS:
Mulligan has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for adoption!

Shy/Fearful Dog: Mulligan requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
