The first year of Svetlana’s life was fraught with changes, first being rescued from outdoors in the peak of summer, and then facing a grave illness in our care. We can say enthusiastically that she is officially a survivor of her rough beginning, and ready to face a much more peaceful future in an experienced home with older children who’ll instinctively offer her patience as she gains confidence in those who care for her. Her love for other cats is epic, so a feline friend to guide her in her first true home will be the bridge she needs from her perilous past to her peaceful furever. You can definitely accelerate the joy by sprinkling catnip around her. That’s when her inner kitten emerges! Want to provide Svetlana a carefree lifestyle? When you come down to NSALA an associate will help you figure out what kind of animal will do best in your situation. At that point they will take out the animals you are interested in so that you may get to know them. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide you want to adopt, an associate will help you fill out an application.

Our adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies (up to 6 months) $350
Adult Dogs (over 6 months) $100
Puppy Mill Rescues $250
Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months) $250
Kittens (up to 6 months) $100
Double Kittens $150
Adult Cats (over 6 months) $50
Double Adult Cats $75

Where applicable, a $50 Spay/Neuter deposit is required for kittens, $75 for puppies.

Our Adoption Center, is open every Thursday-Sunday 12pm-8pm. On average, our shelter is home to 350 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Behind the scenes, the Adoption Center contains a nursery area, medical examination room and a grooming area where new admissions are health checked, vaccinated, bathed and groomed.

Visitors are reminded that adoption is a lifelong commitment. After selecting a pet, each potential adopter is thoroughly screened, ensuring each adopter recognizes the life-changing commitment a new pet can be. To date, over 1,000,000 pet owners have met our high standards and adopted a pet from North Shore Animal League America.
